One of the pioneer Sunday School classes of Highland Park Presbyterian Church, the Tom Currie Bible Class was formed in 1933 to provide lay persons with an opportunity for serious Bible study. Over the years, it has also become known for its warm and caring fellowship, its exemplary church leadership, and its generous and faithful support of missionaries, seminaries and numerous charitable organizations. Each class begins with spirited hymn singing, prayer and an offering, followed by an in-depth Bible study. Lesson texts are drawn from the historic Uniform Lesson Series, which assures a well-rounded study of the whole Bible over time. Our teachers are class members with strong backgrounds in church leadership and Christian education. The ages of our current members range from mid-40s to 90 and above, but we don't consider youth to be a handicap – all ages are welcome. Intergenerational community is one of the strengths of our class, and our membership represents all walks and stations of life. As we look ahead in this young century, members of the Currie Class remain committed to providing a place where maturing Christians may continue to grow as disciples of Jesus Christ and leaders of his Church through the thoughtful study of Scripture in the care of a loving community of faith.
