The Highlander Concert Series began in 1975 as an outreach ministry of Highland Park Presbyterian Church of Dallas, Texas, under the leadership and inspiration of Music Director Roger McMurrin. The series has since been widely acclaimed for its commitment to bringing world-class music and musicians to North Texas.

The Highlander Concert Series is a non-profit corporation.

In 2005 the series' Board of Directors adopted the following Mission:

"The Mission of the Highlander Concert Series is to glorify God and bless the community through excellence in the exercise of God's creative gifts for music through vocal and instrumental performance and music education."

This Mission reflects the four-fold program of the series:

Choral/orchestral performance featuring major works in the oratorio repertory.
Noted professional guest artists.
Organ concerts showcasing HPPC's 92-rank Casavant Frères chancel organ.
Educational programs, including concerts featuring young local artists and touring choirs.

The Highlander Concert Series' unique contribution to the cultural life of the community includes a variety of musical offerings to suit every interest and a commitment to free or cost-only ticket pricing. The Highlander Concert Series is also one of the few places in the D/FW area where you can hear great works for organ as well as the sacred choral repertoire.
